Product Description

A sheep FEC (faecal egg count) counts the number of worm eggs in faeces (dung) and is used to monitor their worm burden. The number of eggs is an indication of the number of adult worms in the gut of the sheep. Samples should be fresh when collected (less than one hour old) and kept cool in an airtight bag before being received at the laboratory within 48 hours. The sheep should be healthy and had full access to pasture. Each test contains individual samples from at least 10 animals. Mob samples can be taken either by gathering them in the corner of a field for a few minutes and picking up samples as they move or carrying bags when out herding and take samples as the lambs get up. For more meaningful results, it is best to group animals by age and test by group for example testing ewes and lambs separately.
